About CySEC certifications

Overview

This course  is designed to prepare participants for the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) certification exams. CySEC certifications concern the knowledge of the regulatory framework of the capital market in Cyprus.

The certification is a prerequisite for any professional who wishes to:

  • Perform & provide investment services &activities in the Republic of Cyprus
  • To be appointed as Regulatory Compliance Officers in compliance with the CySEC Directive
  • To be appointed as AML compliance officers to any entity, regulated by CySEC

CySEC certifications refer to three exam levels:

  • Basic Financial Services Legal Framework Examination
  • Advanced Financial Services Legal Framework Examination
  • Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers (AMLCO) Examination

Course Focus

CySEC certifications ensure candidates can apply a basic and/or an advanced level of knowledge, which is appropriate for individuals offering services delivered by investment firms. Such services include:

  • Reception, transmission and execution of client orders
  • Marketing of collective investment schemes
  • Individuals dealing on a proprietary basis
  • Managing portfolios
  • Offering investment advice or underwriting financial instruments
  • Performing the activities of collective portfolio management and risk management for collective investment schemes (either UCITS or AIFs)

Likewise, the AMLO certification is designed to ensure that professionals  appointed as AML Compliance Officers carry the necessary knowledge as well as expertise to fulfil their assigned duties with competence.

  • Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission has 3 levels of certifications
  • No exemptions are available
  • Each level focuses on a specific learning map

Exam Key information

  • Exams take place twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday
  • Exams are computerized and they take place at an examination center in Nicosia
  • The application to take the exams is on-line and can be found on CySEC’s website. In order to submit an application, click here.
  • The duration of the exam is 60 minutes and it includes 50 multiple-choice questions. The passing rate for the examination is 70%.
