Bucharest – UNIC Global Training Romania joined forces with the Chelco VAT International Academy to deliver a full-day seminar on the EU Value Added Tax (VAT) Directive in Bucharest, earlier this month.
The seminar, titled Navigating the EU VAT Directive, was delivered by lead instructor of Chelco VAT International Academy and well-known indirect tax consultant, Alexis Tsielepis, on 15 June 2017, to Romanian VAT practitioners, tax specialists and teachers.
The high-level seminar represented a detailed map of the EU VAT Directive, charted in such a way so as to help beginners and advanced VAT users alike to understand the basic functioning of the VAT system throughout the EU.
The Cypriot VAT expert covered the logic behind the Directive, which forms the basis of the VAT system in any EU Member State, explained the most important of its 414 articles and referred to landmark VAT cases of the European Court of Justice in depth.
“Starting off our collaboration with Alexis and the Chelco VAT International Academy was a very smooth and easy process. And this is how it goes when we have to work with people who are so open and passionate about what they do,” Adela Șova, Head of UNIC Global Training Romania, commented after the event.
“Everything was excellent and the delivery of Alexis was really great, exceeding all expectations. The way with which he lectures and conveys information can make very complicated things seem simple and easily understood,” she added.
Sova went as far as to say that had she attended the seminar a few years back, she would have considered a change of career to tax and VAT.
On his part, Tsielepis commented that he was thrilled to share his knowledge and passion for VAT with fellow professionals in Romania as well.
“I gladly accepted UNIC Global Training’s invitation to join forces and teach VAT in Romania,” he said, adding:
“There is a logic surrounding the workings of the EU VAT Directive which forms the basis of the VAT system in any EU Member State, whether that is Cyprus or Romania. The aim of this seminar was to navigate Romanian professionals through the waypoints of the Directive and emerge possessing a comprehensive knowledge of the workings of VAT.”
Commenting on the seminar, one of the attendees, Alexandru Marciuc, VAT Reporting Specialist with Bosch Service Solutions said:
“This was a very professional presentation with high quality course materials as well as concrete and in-depth explanations of all topics. I have attended other VAT presentations delivered by Big Four firms which had a much lower standard in terms of content and quality of presentation.”
Madalina Ion, ACCA tutor for tax papers, strongly recommended the course to “everyone who needs to get a solid, deeper and comprehensive understanding of VAT. Alexis is a very good teacher, facilitating and stimulating interesting discussions.”
